13/11/2003 Nirtzi A week has gone by since that moment you went away, since that moment we stood here and ….and still it is difficult if not impossible to believe. It feels as if it happened only yesterday. The week has passed so quickly and although it is true they say time flies when you are having fun but this week we found out that time flies even when you are hurting and longing. During the whole week we sat in your house from morning to night together with a lot of friends relatives and family along with half of Haifa waiting for you to come in and say: “Hi everyone you are all here in my honor so let’s go out to celebrate “ But it did not happen – perhaps only in our dreams. You did not arrive to sit down with us and it looks like that strong wish will have to stay in our heart forever. All we are left to do is engrave your image and memory in our hearts and keep on loving you and missing you as if you were here with us. From the day you left us the sky did not stop crying and hurting with us, everything turned dark and gray and rainy almost as if somebody up there is sympathizing with us. About your family – it is not for nothing that their name is Melech (meaning king in Hebrew). While you were with us you had a loving, supporting and warm family that has embraced all your friends with warmth and love despite the difficult times they are going through. We would like to make it clear that our relationship with them does not end here but only begins: We will keep coming in before an outing to have a snack, we will keep ourselves up to date at your home, we will keep laughing around your table just like you used to love doing and of course to support as much as we can. Nir, the thing we will be missing most will be the light and charm that you brought with you into every room you went into. Maybe because of that your hand touched everywhere and everyone and that is why all of Haifa was weeping with us. There is no doubt in my mind that now we know even better how central were you to Haifa’s day-to-day life and appreciate that special light and charm you brought with you wherever you went. We are positive that the trail of light you left behind will stay with us forever because it is positive that our love and longing will endure forevermore. DORIN
